Eat Smart Move More Richland County has partnered with Koinonia of Columbia to assist with their community garden expansion. The coalition received a $5,000 block grant for a community garden project.

Koinonia of Columbia is an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) non-profit in the community of Eau Claire. We are a racially-reconciling, healing presence in the Eau Claire community, anchored in our steadfast dependence on God and one another. We aspire to build community together through Christ by tapping into the skills, knowledge, talents and resources of the people of Eau Claire and through partnerships.
Koinonia’s gardens are currently located on Lenoir-Rhyne University campus, 1101 Duke Ave. The university has partnered with Koinonia giving them access to build their community garden on their campus property.
Saturday, February 27, 2021: ESMMRC coalition members assisted with bed build. Coalition members built 2 (12’x4′) beds.
Saturday, March 6: Lenoir-Rhyne University assisted with bed build. Team built 2 (4’x4′) wheel chair accessible beds.
Earth Day: We will be celebrating the completion of our project on Earth Day 2021. We are currently working on a video to highlight our project success.
